Write one baseline construction
The starting stack should name:
- facestock material, color, caliper or relevant grade;
- adhesive family and intended permanent or removable behavior;
- liner, release level and conversion needs;
- finished shape, corner radius and die direction;
- ink, coating, lamination, foil or other finish;
- core, winding, pitch, gap, diameter and splice rule.
PackMK freezes the baseline before variants are tested. Otherwise, a better result cannot be attributed to the adhesive, facestock, shape or application change that produced it.
Change one variable when the failure is unclear
If edge lift appears, do not simultaneously choose a softer facestock, stronger adhesive, larger radius and slower line. Begin with the branch most consistent with the failure map and operational limits. Keep the remaining stack and route fixed, then observe immediate and aged behavior.
PackMK records side effects as carefully as the original defect. A material that conforms better may print differently. A higher-tack adhesive may leave residue. A new shape may reduce the brand panel or change dispensing. The selected route must close the full job, not one symptom.

PackMK states the sample quantity, conditioning, observation times and disposition for each gate. Passing a bench trial does not automatically release a full-speed roll.
Use a defect statement that another person can repeat
On the filled container after the stated cleaning and dwell, the upper-left edge lifted at the shoulder radius; the flat side panel and lower edge remained bonded.
This sentence gives development a location, state and comparison. PackMK avoids notes such as adhesion poor because they do not identify the interface or support a controlled next trial.
Bring real artwork into the physical trial
Once the construction narrows, use the actual longest copy, smallest code, darkest coverage and most reflective finish. Apply the label to the final curve and view it under the intended lighting. A flat proof can hide glare, distortion, edge placement and a code that wraps beyond a reliable scan zone.

Make roll geometry part of the released product
Core, winding direction, maximum outside diameter, pitch, gap, orientation, liner width, splice count and roll quantity must fit the intended hand or machine process. Confirm the sensor target and how the first and last labels are handled.
PackMK treats a roll diagram like a drawing, not a packing preference. The printed face can be perfect and still stop a line when it unwinds backwards or the gap does not trigger the equipment reliably.
Inspect the interface at production speed
Start-up checks should cover construction identity, size, cut, print, data, roll format and applied behavior. During the run, use intervals that can contain a drift without making the sample plan unmanageable. Keep suspect rolls separate until an owner decides their disposition.

Write change triggers beside the evidence
